I plan to return to University of Michigan Dearborn campus for my MBA. I would really like to start this winter, to get a feel for what I can handle course wise in fall when I have a few more life commitments to worry about.

Poor planning on my part aside, I am crash studying to get my GMAT in this month. I am very quickly realizing that a 12 year gap in using some (any) of these math concepts is not good, and I am concerned that I will be unable to re-educate myself in enough time to achieve a respectable score. From what I have read, the GMAT is used only for admissions, so I am not worried about posting a high score on my refrigerator, I just want to be admitted.

Do I really need to knock the ball out of the park, what score could I get and be admitted?
Would terrible score impact a possible re-take down the road?
Lastly, I have been advised that while UofM-Dearborn is not Ross, it is still a name recognizable outside of the midwest, and a preferred option over say a Walsh College, which does not required the GMAT for entrance, any thoughts on that?

About me:

• I have 11 years of banking/credit underwriting experience with one of the nations top banks, I have a senior "titled" position, and am a Vice President.
  I have held various other managerial positions, but all at retail level as I was going through school, nothing particularly notable.
  I graduated from UofM-Dearborn with an undergrad in both finance and management, GPA 3.52, considered high distinction.
  I also have associates from a community college in Science and Management.
  Whether it matters or not, I belong to the UofM alumni program and have donated money in the past and would have a letter of recommendation from at least one fairly recognizable alumni member.
  My goal for achieving my MBA is to open up other career opportunities down the road.
