What schools to apply for?

by abhimanyukhunger » Wed Sep 26, 2012 6:29 am
I just took my GMAT yesterday and scored 640 (Q-49,V-28). This was my second attempt (Previous attempt 600(Q-50, V-28).
I m not too happy about my score as I was getting around 690-700s in my mocks.

I m thinking of applying using my current score only, and want to know in which good schools I can apply for.
Following are some bullet points about my profile-
  • Electronics and communication engineering -64% from Jaypee University of Information technology , Solan (India) - 2010 batch
Currently working for Philips Electronics India Ltd. (lighting application specialist and business developer) (Jan'11- present)
Have been handling both private and government related projects in my profession.
Had my own startup, which took off well (june'10-june'11) - [couldnt pursue it because of some personal issues]
Experts, please guide on how to go further, what suggestions you give and what schools should I short list.

Thanks and regards

Or a good place to start is to look at lists or rankings of MBA schools, and to find programs at which your MBA lies around the average MBA of students in previous years. These schools will lie in your "sweet spot", and are the schools at which (very roughly) you will be competitive. Then it's research time!!!
