Many MBA aspirants take the GMAT as a major pain,something they wish was not there,but something they have to put up with.This is more so for the those students who have an unfortunate bad score.Most of these students have not given an entrance test like GMAT before.

GMAT is a tough test, no doubt , but not insurmountable. But GMAT is different from other academic tests.It is an aptitude test that tests one's endurance as well as one's state of mind. So what is needed is a right frame of mind throughout the test.To get a right frame of mind one need to have a proper strategy, a solid preparation. Such preparation should take care of all the possibilities that may creep up during the test.GMAT is designed to upset the test taker,it will never allow the test taker to get into a rhythm.This is why this test is also called a Pschychometric test.

One way to handle this problem is to get used to this difficulty by practising harder questions within the set time limits. Engineering students have an advantage, they have experienced these difficulties during their engineering entrance tests.
So they are generally in a better position to handle the difficulty level of the GMAT.Most students who score badly at the GMAT due to their low score at the quant section are from nonengineering background.NOW one way to help improve their quant skills is to practice higher level questions from other management entrance exams as well as relevant topics of engineering entrance tests.This will definitely help raise their problem solving abilities ,as well handling difficulty.


Those students who didn't scored well , scored below 400,don't lose their heart.It is always possible to get to your desired score with the right strategy and the right kind of mindset.I will come up with suggestions for improvements on specific topics ,which have helped me and which I think will definitely help all the students desirous to score better.I will make additions to this post after I get feedback.And please do not hate the GMAT if you did not scored well, but take it as a part of learning process.After all what's life without a little GMAT.
