We're told that 30 percent of x is same as 40 percent of y
In other words, 0.3x = 0.4y
Multiply both sides by 10 to get: 3x = 4y
Divide both sides by 4 to get: (3/4)x = y

So y = 3/4 of x
In other words, y =
75%
of x

We're told that 30 percent of x is same as 40 percent of y
In other words, 0.3x = 0.4y

Let's choose some NICE VALUES for x and y that satisfy the given conditions.
Let's first say that x = 40
So, the equation 0.3x = 0.4y becomes 0.3(40) = 0.4y
Simplify to get: 12 = 0.4y
Divide both sides by 0.4 to get: y = 30

So, x = 40 and y = 30 satisfies the given condition.

What percent of x is y?
30 is 75% of 40

Answer: E
