My analysis:
I thought 'started' is a past particle (-ed form) and needs a helping verb so chose the wrong answer- (D).
But after reading the answer, I came to know that ‘started’ is a verb-ed modifier.
Now I have 2 doubts:
1) In the clause: “The proliferation of personal computing by laptops and desktops started in 1998 with the advent of internet and has been continuing since then so much so"
What is the verb in the above clause?
2) is it possible for ‘has been continuing’ (verb) to refer to ‘proliferation’ (Subject) when the sentence has ‘AND’ in between?
