To find the value of x, we have to evaluate both statements 1 and 2.
Statement 1: - (x+y) = x-y
- x - y = x - y
-x - x = - y + y
-2x = 0
$$x=\frac{0}{-2}=0$$
Therefore, the value of x=0. Hence, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT.

Statement 2: x+y=2
x = 2 - y
Here, the value of y is not given, so we cannot evaluate the value of x. Therefore, statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT.

Since only statement 1 alone is SUFFICIENT, the correct answer choice is option A.
