What is the best method to crack reading passage

Hello Everyone,

According to you what is the best method or strategy to crack reading passage. Read is completely line by line or scan the whole passage once?

I suggest that you read the passage at a regular speed and take notes while doing so.
Namely, you should identify and summarize:

- the theme of each paragraph (4 to 8 words)
- conflicting points of view (4 to 8 words)
- main idea (4 to 8 words)

So, we're talking about 20 to 30 words altogether (and you can use shorthand and acronyms to use fewer words).

If you take good notes, you won't have to go back and re-read the passage. More importantly, when you're looking for specific pieces of information to summarize, you will better engage with the passage (which is a HUGE factor in RC success).

Read for the MainPoint and for the Structure of the passage.

That's it.

The intitial readthrough, in which you give the passage read for the MainPoint and for the Structure, should not take more than 30 seconds.

The Structure of the passage will help you in finding the location for smaller picture questions such as Inference and Literal Comprehension Questions.

The Structure of the passage works as the Table of Content of a book.

Imagine, how difficult is to find a specfic information if you have no Table of Content of the book.

Table of content is not the summary of the book. Rather it just helps the way book is structured. Same is the case with GMAT RC passages.
