The answer to your question lies in your post.

1) Change the world! :)
2) Start early!

I'd say a clear career goal is the most important step. Next is a good gmat! Some volunteer work/leadership in something you strongly believe in.
Don't come from any overrepresented group. (I'm an IT guy, so you know where that came from :))
