One of the highly regarded School Essays ask for the candidates to detail their long term goals and objectives. What is the pre-eminent difference between these 2 words??

Goals are well, goals. You know the technical thing:
"I want to climb Everest"

Objectives are more visionary, and have a bit to do with the Why:
"I want to feel the sky on my face and therefore am climbing Everest."
