There are no fixed 'good' score for quant and verbal. Some schools prefer 80 %ile in both sections. But there is no fixed good score for the sections.

so a 78th percentile in quant isn't cause for concern?

It seems that you scored a 710 on the GMAT and you say you had a 78th percentile on the Quant? This would not be a cause for concern unless you are applying to a handful of programs, such as MIT, that over value quant. Your overall score is very good and that is not a bad quant score. I would look into the particular programs you thinking of apply to and see if they have any particular Quant score guidelines.

David, I figured that schools like MIT or Wharton would look down upon a score below 80; are there others or would I for the most part be in the clear? I've really struggled to find out this information, even the admissions people seem to dodge this question, despite saying that a "strong" quant score is preferable.

I find it ironic that they won't quantify what "strong" means
