Hi,

I took the first GMATPrep test and I scored a 31Q
After 2 weeks of studying Quant, I took the MGMAT and scored a 42Q
After a 1 week break from studying, I took the GMATPrep 2 and scored a 36Q

Did that 1 week break really kill me? Or is it because I studied from the MGMAT guide, making the MGMAT test much more easier? The questions from the MGMAT CAT seemed very similar to the questions from the book and I found the GMAT Prep test much harder.

If its because of the first reason, what should I do so I don't forget the materials I learned? I have the test in 1 month. I scored a 20V on all 3 exams when I needed a 28V. Therefore I was thinking of studying verbal for the next month, but now it seems like I have to study for Quant all over again.

I just want a 42Q and 28V, but that seems so hard now....

A one-week break is not likely to cause your score to drop by such a significant amount. Additionally, the standard error for MGMAT tests is about +/- 50 points, while GMATPrep is +/- 30. Also since GMATPrep is from the official test makers, the questions you see and the score you receive is typically more representative of your current level. You should take the MGMAT score with a grain of salt. Because of that, I think your current ability level is probably in the mid-30s for quant. You should study for verbal but continue to build and maintain your quant skills. Rather than focusing on your MGMAT score, use the analysis of your MGMAT tests to determine specific areas to focus.
