What are the main concepts that I should have a very firm grasp on? I know a lot of people tend to get carried away with probability and combinations yet those problems rarely arise in the quant section. Does anyone have data on the most commonly tested concepts?

Thanks.

Hi stevennu,

Most of the questions that you'll face on Test Day come from a small set of major math categories. I'm not going to list every subset of each category, but here are the major categories, in order of typical frequency (it's worth noting the frequencies can change depending on the Randomizer and how well you're doing in the section):

Algebra
Math Rules/Arithmetic
Number Properties
Math Formulas
Geometry
Ratios
Statistics/Sets

Data Sufficiency criss-crosses with all of the above categories, but tends to criss-cross the most with Number Properties and Algebra.

To maximize your score in the Quant section, you'll need to understand the content as well as the most efficient tactics for each Quant category.
