Web sites

by sudhir3127 » Thu Nov 27, 2008 4:30 am
Some official Web sites of regionally accredited colleges have received the highest possible rating from the Federal Department of Education. However, all official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges have received the highest possible rating from the same department.

Which of the following, if added to the statements above, would provide most support for the conclusion that all Web sites administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology have received the highest possible rating from the Federal Department of Education?

a. Only official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

b. All official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

c. Only Web sites that have not received the highest possible rating from the Federal Department of Education are administered by individuals not holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

d. All official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

e. No Web site administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology is an official Web site of a regionally accredited college

OA after some discussions

IMO C

Please note B and D are one and the same.

given : all official Web sites received highest rating.

Question :all Web sites administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology have received the highest possible rating

A:Only official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.
We are interested in how official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered? Not what sort of websites individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology administer? -- Out of scope.

c. Only Web sites that have not received the highest possible rating from the Federal Department of Education are administered by individuals not holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

It means websites that received the highest award are administered by individuals with advanced degree

e. No Web site administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology is an official Web site of a regionally accredited college

This is exactly opposite of what we are looking for.

Some websites of regionally accredited colleges have received the highest possible rating
All websites of nationally accredited colleges have received the highest possible rating

What statement supports conclusion?
ALL Web sites administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology have received the highest possible rating

a. Only official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

This tells us the ONLY the websites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees. I like this choice because then all of the websites by advanced degree holders have the highest rating.

b. All official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

All of the websites of nationally accredited colleges have the highest possible rating and the statement says all of these websites are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees. So at first glance this looks good, BUT what about the websites of regionally accredited colleges? We don’t know if any advanced degree holders administer these websites. So we don’t know 100% if ALL websites administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational tech have the highest possible rating.

c. Only Web sites that have not received the highest possible rating from the Federal Department of Education are administered by individuals not holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

All this tells us is that the websites without the highest rating are administered by people without the advanced degree. People without advanced degrees could still administer the websites that have received the highest rating.

d. All official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

e. No Web site administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology is an official Web site of a regionally accredited college

Unfortunately I have to go and can't finish typing. But I wanted to post my thoughts.

I choose A.

What is the OA?

a. Only official Web sites of nationally accredited colleges are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

The common thing between nationally and regionally accredited colleges that have the highest rating is the fact that they are administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

So in other words NATIONALLY ACCREDITED colleges defines the casuality:

Advanced degree ----> Highest Ratings

So A is the correct answer

C is trying to convey the same idea using the opposite but you should remember that it is a logic error.

@ logitech

would provide most support for the conclusion that all Web sites administered by individuals holding advanced degrees in educational technology have received the highest possible rating from the Federal Department of Education?

The argument has asked provide support for all the web sites. But the option A supports only nationally accredited colleges.

The option C

c. Only Web sites that have not received the highest possible rating from the Federal Department of Education are administered by individuals not holding advanced degrees in educational technology.

Any other ideas...
