Do any programs stand out for having a well connected alumni base and/or professors with experience at international development banks? Or an emerging market sector focus via private sector investment management firms?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Most top schools, including Harvard and Stanford, have very strong interenational development-related programs that collaborate closely with the business schools. Are you looking at Top Tier programs or middle-of-the-order programs as well? More specific description of your career objectives and other constraints (geographic preferences, for instance) will help me answer it better. Are you focusing on developmental finance or beyond? Are you looking to work at World Bank or the like?

Arpita,

Thank you for your quick response! I have listed more pointed parameters below that may help:

- Top tier program (top 15)
- No geographic preference (U.S. or foreign)
- Strong set of finance courses: investment management, developmental finance, advanced modeling
- Electives: public/private/government relationships, emerging market development
- Program values individuals who speak a second, even third language and offer opportunities to utilize these languages
- Student-run investment portfolio

Post-MBA options include: international development bank; private-sector investment management w/ focus on emerging market sector; consulting firm who advises foreign governments on development projects and financing options (debt issuance, etc.).

You're pursuing the wrong degree if you're thinking of a MBA.

You should be seeking to do a Masters of Public Policy e.g. MPA-ID at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government
wannabe business school consultant
