A cylindrical can with a diameter of 10 inches is placed on its base completely inside an open square cardboard box. If the four sides of the box bulge slightly, which of the following could be the internal perimeter, in inches, of the base of the box?


1. 28
2. 10p
3. 38
4. 44
5. 100

I am doubtful of the OA . Please help.

I understand the question like that: they ask you to find the biggest perimeter as possible which is under 10 per side... given it bulges.

38/4=9.5<10
I would say C

I'll go with C too
diameter of a cylinder is 10 and after placing the cylinder the sides of square bulges so the square permiter has to be a li'l less than 40 (perimeter of a square = 10*4) so closest is 38

YEs OA is C indeed. thanks. I was taing it the other way. By calculating the perimeter of the Circle i.e pi*10=31.4, i was tryoing to find the perimeter of square which is lesser than that.
