Needless to state that each statement alone is insufficient. Let's discuss both of them together.
(1) and (2) together
Case 1: Say a = 10, √b = 11, and c^2 = 16; thus, a = 10, b = 121 and c = 4. We see that a + b + c > 1. The answer is yes.
Case 2: Say a = 0.26, √b = 0.3, and c^2 = 0.36; thus, a = 0.26, b = 0.09 and c = 0.6 . We see that a + b + c = 0.95 < 1. The answer is no.
No unique answer. Insufficient.
