Another approach:

228 and 494 are both even, so let's simplify by 2.

228/494 = 114/247

Now let's factor 114 = 2 * 57 = 2 * 3 * 19.

Noticing that 247 doesn't divide by 2 or 3, we conclude it must be divide by 19, and it does! (247 = 13 * 19).

Hence 228/494 = 114/247 = (6*19)/(13*19) = 6/13.

notice that your approach requires me to be a human calculator capable of easily calculating 2*3*19=247 , wow super easy approach that would only take 3 mins to implement, thanks!
