Hey i've seen a lot of thread on BSchools on sister gmat threads. I would like to get BTG's views on ISB and the kind of preparation we need to get into ISB.
I have heard its not important to get a outlandish gmat score but trust me, last year the average GMAT score of indian male admits was 730+ and the overall average was 710.
So we have to start there. I have 4 yrs of experience. No international experience. Some EC's.
What else should I do to prepare myself for the ISB application for next class ? I guess apps will start by september.
First thing I am doing is retaking gmat. What next ?

Disclaimer: Whatevr i write here is sort of blind leading a blind . just my personal opinion.
whtevr the b schols may say i strongly feel ur gmat score can make a huge diff. atleast u are asking the adcom to give ur profile a 'dekho'. nd if u come from the common indian pool then u have ur task cut out. not extraordinary scores but ya defntly 700+. nxt thng obviously wud be ur work exp. u cant change it overnight but u sure can stregthen it and project it an impressive manner. u shud definitelybe clear on wht u want post mba and especially for a 1 year prg liek ISB, ur current exp shud somewhr map into future long term goals (though it does happen people who had IT exp before do go into 1 yr prgs and have majors of the type ibanking, marketing etc. i defntly dnt understand how it works out for them in the long term.i personally feel if u do want a complete profile change 2 yr mba prgs are preferable. ofcourse my knoledge on all this is limited though)
at the moment i wud say concetrate on ur gmat score, coz thts the only thng u can chnag in ur profile nw(aprt fmr essays ofcourse - very crucial), u cant chng ur exp, undergrad scores etc. keep urself updated on the latest b school thngs(especially the colleges ur targetting at). i wud also advise u to visit ISB thread on pagalguy just to knw wht sort of profiles this year admits have.
hope i didnt bore u to death

hey mate,,m already closely following the PG thread for isb, nd guiding newbies on gmat
there is hardly any isb discussion going on that thread currently,,old info was of course useful.
regarding my career plans, i was in an IT firm for 26 months, i am handling a very small manufacturing plant now(set this up myself last year, up and running properly-dad will take over when I leave),
my interest would be in operations and entrepreneurship, but i dont want to come back to this industry straight after an mba, I want to work for bigger and better firms, take more learning's and then venture back into self managed entrepreneurship 5 years down the line,
i am 25 now,

i guess u r the one u got 650 wth abt a month's prep right?
man u sure can get into the high 700s wth more time at hand then.
all the best.

yeah,,i did get a respectable 650 with a good split,,but i studied like an ass, i got nightmares of gmat math problems and I broke down in frustration quite some times cause I pushed myself beyond limits, working then studying all eve upto 2 am. never studied so much even in engg clg,,,
I cant gather the courage to again pull out that same effort from myself one more time.
Anyways, planning to kick ass starting 1st april. This time will even out study over 90 days.
lets keep this thread alive,,BTG has lot of experts which PG does not have. M done with GMAT "research"(not test). I now need some insights on my target colleges.

Hey bblast,
Thanks for starting this post. I guess we are in the same boat. I will also be applying to ISB this year in september.
A short Introduction, I did my mechanical engineering from BIT, Mesra, Ranchi. Have worked as a sales guy for two years ,in a core company & then handling my dads business for a year now. ( Our profile matches somewhat) .
Planning to give my GMAT in a months time.
Lets march hand in hand towards our goal of an Ivy league MBA.

Eric and Paul recently visited the ISB campus. I guess you would be interested in their expert comments.

Mr. Rajat Gupta resigned from ISB Board!! I had great faith on him..but the old saying of the capitalist world that "Greed is good " still holds true & thereby paves way for "illlegal" trends.

Hello
Thanks for your reply.
But I am a little confused here.
Can you tell me when the next course starts?
I thought its from apirl 2012 to MAy 2013?
You are refering to that right???
Sorry if I am wrong.
Thanks
