Ooops! My mistake.

I thought the first word was a name and the subject is COMPOUND( X and Y has/ instead here X and Y are adjectives only not Noun). I got it. No need of explanation. Let others try for their practice.

Hi imskpwr,

I will bet that you are not the first person to mis-interpret the first word in 4 of the answer choices. For anyone else who might make that same error, the word "Elizabethan" is an adjective, not the name of a person. An "Elizabethan composer" is a composer who lived during the time of Queen Elizabeth I. This SC is built around Verb issues - focusing on those rules should help you to answer the question.

Let me give it a try:

A: compares "few composers" to the "lyrics of John"...wrong
B: John is not celebrated as "few composers"...but "John" has been celebrated as (much as) few composers have...wrong
C: John has been celebrated MORE THAN few composers have(bn celebrated).. looks ok
D: "few composers HAS been..." should be "John was celebrated as much as few composers have"..wrong
E: 2 errors: John HAVE been celebrated....AS few composers. wrong

Let me know if my explanations are correct... my take is C[/b]
