I did nt copy , paste the below stuff .I had to type the whole thing , Guys so be a bit considerate about my efforts and put in ur explanation with ur IMO etc.

scientific researchers have invested millions of dollars into research to develop more effective treatment for the AIDS virus , including decreasing the drug's side effects and simplifying its regimens of use .
A)into research to develop more effective treatment for the AIDS virus
B)into research for developing more effective treatment for the AIDS virus
C)for research for more effective treatment for the AIDS virus to be developed
D)in research to develop more effective treatment for the AIDS virus
E)in research for researching for the AIDS virus more effective treatments

Could an expert please tell what does including ... modify . Doesnt it have to be close to treatments . I chose E because of the same issue.

I chose D for the simple reason that into is not the perfect preposition here. into is used as a preposition when in indicates the action performed by the noun in action.
For eg:The cat ran into the house.
Hence, in the above sentence, in seems to be more correct.
Also, to develop is better than for developing.
E is totally awkward.
I would go for D.

Munda please post the OA.

THanks.

to me, the correct answer is D

B is wrong, bcuz parallel structure starts from "including" that it is going to list some items.. in fact the sentence is saying "... have invested millions of dollars..... to develop a treatment..."

you invest money IN, leaving choices D and E

and E can be eliminated, hence, D
