1. a+1 and b-1 are consecutive negative integers
2. b is an odd number.
(1) If a = -3 and b = -2, then b > a (Note: a + 1 = -2 and b - 1 = -3)
If a = -7 and b = -6, then b > a (Note: a + 1 = -6 and b - 1 = -7)
So, (1) is SUFFICIENT.
(2) If b = -3 and a = -4 then b > a
If b = -3 and a = -2 then b < a
We don't get a unique answer.
So, (2) is NOT SUFFICIENT.
The correct answer is
(A)
.
