Hello

I got a 700 on my GMAT and I was slightly disappointed as I was expecting 720 at least. However, my major concern is the V and Q score disparity

I got 50(95%) in Quant and 34(72%) in verbal. Is that disparity an issue? I am hesitant on taking the GMAT again, but if I have to then I have to. PLease advice what you think the situation will be from your experience.

I have an MS from University of Missouri in Electrical Engineering with a GPA of 3.4 with work experience of 5 yrs by 2009.

I do understand that the whole profile matters and not GMAT score alone, but the disparity in in the individual scores in my primary concern.

I am planning to apply to CBS, NYU, Yale, Wharton, Cornell, Tuck, Darden

How do you think my chances will be ?

Dear kalyanachanta,

The disparity is really not an issue. It is hard to gauge your chances at those schools as I do not have enough information on your profile. Based on your GPA from your master's program and your 700 GMAT, you appear to be a smart guy and probably have the foundation for a competitive application for these schools. To ensure the best chance of admission, you need to put together a strong application as a whole and distinguish yourself effectively from the applicant pool.
