All schools vary to some degree in what they look for in an applicant and have internal goals that change each year. So while you might be waitlisted or rejected at some schools, you will be admitted to others. I would suggest you contact the admissions office at BC regarding your waitlist status--what are the concerns? what can you do to strengthen your application? Then you can take action to address those concerns. From the information you posted, I think you still have a shot at Yale and NYU. However, your decision depends greatly on how well you put together your application--your essays, resume, interview and recommendations. If you know you put together a strong and compelling application, then stay positive and contact BC for some insight into your waitlist status.

How frustrating and disappointing! As I mentioned before, I would not let BC's opinion influence how you feel about your chances at other schools. Schools have different goals for their classes and you just never know how it is going to go. In terms of what to do for BC, I think the only thing you can do at this point is to submit a letter conveying your desire to attend BC and why. While it will be a little redundant to your application, try to get into more detail as to why the program is a good match for you in terms of curriculum, career opportunities, culture, and resources. Other than that, you are unfortunately going to have to just wait it out.
