Update letter to adcom regarding recent award?

Hello,

I was wondering if it would be appropriate to send an email to the admissions committee (I already submitted my application) with an update on a recent award that I have won. This award is directly tied to my extra circulars and I think could add value to my application. Any insights would be great.

Whilst extra curricular activities and awards are good, they don't tell the whole story unless connected to the overall theme of your essays/application. if you email them at this stage, they would most likely view it as a dog asking for a bone. You've already created a persona for yourself. Awards will keep coming. My advice: Don't water it down.

Well, to write a separate letter about a recent award, I would say only do it if the award is really a big deal. I mean you get the Presidential Medal, obviously that's going in! But if it's just employee of the month, it may seem a bit desperate.
