unclear question :S

by Khaim » Thu Jul 16, 2009 3:23 pm
Hi Guys... I got a trouble with the following question :

For all positive integer m, "m"= 3m when m is odd and "m" = 1/2 m when m is even. Which of the following is equivalent to "9" x "6"

A 81
B 54
C 36
D 27
E 18

I picked 81 since 9 is odd I multiply 9x 3 = 27
and 6 is even so 6 x 0.5 = 3
thus 27 x 3 = 81 answer A which is wrong !

can someone help and explain

:? thank you :)

I believe the answers are also in quotations.

as you said: "9" x "6" = 81

"27" also = 81 (27*3, since it's odd), so the answer is D
