UCLA Extension Classes?

Expert replies

Hello,

I am having 11 years of work experience (last 6 years in USA) and I am planning to appear for GMAT for EMBA. I did my engineering from India with a decent (but not great) final GPA. The grading in India is not done on 4.0 scale but rather on percentage scale (0-100). I had secured 75% (which was not bad considering my class average).

I know acing GMAT is a must to offset a low GPA but I am thinking of building alternate transcripts to strengthen my application. I am interested in UCLA Extension courses but since they are mostly held in LA, I don't think I can take on-campus courses (I am from Connecticut).

1) Is there any disadvantage of doing online course compared to classroom one? Are the online courses real time or recorded?
2) If I do an online course, will my transcript indicate that the course was completed online?
3) Do the Adcom consider online UCLA course any inferior to classroom one?

Thanks!

Hi dacoffee,

You ask a number of good questions; they are essentially Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it useful to ask an Admissions Expert. There's a forum full of those Experts here:

With an EMBA, your GPA will likely be less of a factor than your Work Experience (and a strong GMAT Score would certainly help too). Depending on the specific School(s) that you want to apply to, you might be able to take the Executive Assessment (which is a shorter/less-intensive version of the GMAT specifically for those interested in EMBAs).

1) Have you started studying for the GMAT yet?
2) When are you planning to apply to School?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
