With cloning technology, scientists are approaching what has long been the ultimate goal of modern husbandry: achieving a consistency of quality and production in farm animals as once thought to be limited to manufactured goods.
(A) achieving a consistency of quality and production in farm animals as once thought to be
(B) achieving farm animals with a consistency of quality and production as were once thought of as
(C) achieving in farm animals a consistency of quality and production that was once thought to be
(D) achievement of farm animals whose consistency of quality and production are the same as what were once thought to he
(E) achievement of farm animals at a consistency of quality and production once thought of as 23

The Immigration Service now has the discretionary power to keep families united even though all their members do not meet the five-year residency requirement.

1. B is out because WERE (a consistency)
D is out ARE
E sounds bad...
A i'm not sure what's wrong (HELP)

2. you need to understand the point (logic) of the sentence, the NAT want to united families because NOT ALL their members are... so A,C,E out
D is awkward so B

In the first one, I go with A.

The clause "that was once thought to be" presented in C sounds awkward to me, while "as once thought to be" in A sounds fine.

Also, in C, the word order "achieving in farm animals a consistency of quality and production" is weird. IMO, it should be "achieving (What?) a consistency... (Where?) in farm animals".

i think the first one OA : C is incorrect when achieving in is incorrect idiom.

IMO: D, "are" for consistancy of quality and production "are" -right verb use.

in the second,
A is fault meaning. if all members cannot unqualify 5 years reside but some.

B is right meaning.
Please share your idea and your reasoning :D

hey bhumika i am no expert , but still can manage to help sort out this

for first one C is the best amng rest

a)With cloning technology, scientists are approaching what has long been the ultimate goal of modern husbandry: achieving a consistency of quality and production in farm animals as once thought to be limited to manufactured goods.
(A) achieving a consistency of quality and production in farm animals as once thought to be
does farm animals were thought to be limited to a manufactured goods;no its actually production whic was limited to man.. goods
hence change of meaning incorrect

(B) achieving farm animals with a consistency of quality and production as were once thought of as
acheiving farm animals......is incorrect in sense target is not to achieve farm anmals its consistency
+were indicates a pural sub and therfore refe to farm animals and is therore changing the meaning in the same as way as A

(C) achieving in farm animals a consistency of quality and production that was once thought to be
correct

(D) achievement of farm animals whose consistency of quality and production are the same as what were once thought to he
same as B
(E) achievement of farm animals at a consistency of quality and production once thought of as 23
wat is 23 i think its typo
but the option is incorrect for sanme reason as D and B
