the first q, i dont get why D would be better than E, since the sentence starts with present tense.

the second one, for c and d, it refers to DNA testing process, which will not make sense.
the sentence should mean DNA testing process will become too commonplace, resulting and greatly increasing..
for reason to choose E over A is that on the original sentence it writes..those who are...so it will be better ends with those who would bring...

these are just my thoughts.

IMO E.

Parallelism has to be between verb "hope","propose" and "demand".
a: proposing and demanding are not parallel with hope
b: proposing is not parallel with hope
c: demanding is not parallel with hope
d: proposing and demanding are not parallel with hope
e: hope, propose and demand are parallel

33:
IMO B
Parallelism has to be between verb "become" and "increase".
a: "increasing" is not parallel with "become"
b: "greatly increase" is paralle with "become"
c: "it" refers to the DNA testing process.
d: "it" refers to the DNA testing process.
e: "increasing" is not paralle to "become".

I must be really tired when I responded to these questions. I can't believe I missed these. Can you post more from the paper test?

The clue to solving the first problem is to read the last part of the sentence. It's common to read the first clause and follow the pattern of bargaining, proposing and demanding. However, we must always read the remaining portion of the sentence. In that case E is the best choice.

You asked about choice A. Choice A has two action verbs by proposing imposing. This cannot take place. However, imposition becomes a noun and the verb modifying it is proposing.

The mass marketing of companies that specialize in DNA testing has inspired fears that the DNA testing process will become too commonplace, resulting in emotional trauma to those who are ill equipped to cope with the results, and greatly increasing the number of lawsuits that are brought against hospitals and adoption agencies.

(a) greatly increasing the number of lawsuits that are brought

(b) greatly increase the lawsuits brought

(c) it would greatly increase the number of lawsuits that would be brought

(d) it would greatly increase the bringing of a number of lawsuits

(e) greatly increasing the number of those who would bring law suits



I broke the sentence at - that the DNA testing.... - and hence chose (c). I felt it was rightly referring to DNA testing process. Is there anything else it can refer to in the above sentence?

'it' can refer back to emotional trauma as well
