Two cars

by Bek » Thu Aug 11, 2011 7:35 pm
Two cars are traveling side-by-side along the same road. At time 0, car 1 turns off onto another road. One hour later, both cars are at the same horizontal position on their respective roads, as illustrated. If both cars were traveling at constant speeds for that entire hour, how far did car 1 travel?

(1) The two roads form a 45Ëš angle.

(2) Car 2 was traveling at 50 mph.
