I have trouble with the participles, like 'doubling the increase' or 'double that of'

Also questions about 'to rise' vs 'rising'

hi gmattic,

the ans for first should be B.
A and E is ruled out because of the use of '...to be'.
D is ruled out because of the use of 'includes'...because it is referring to '32 species'...
now two choices left 'B' and 'C'.
C is ruled out because it uses 'being' which violates IIsm....

hi gmattic,
the answer to the first one should be option A itself.....
remove B and D since they try to relate BIG and LONG
remove C since it uses BEING
and in between A and E,A is better option

OA please?

I go for A as well...D and E are ruled out due to "includes" (which does not go well with the plural "species"), B is ruled out because "growing...and famous" are not parallel and C doesn't sound right to me
