Tricky parallelism problem

In order to widen their customer base, Danish artisans have given an assurance of unparalleled quality with a money-back guarantee; their dolls have been made to last, and they are.

(A) have been made to last, and they are your answer

(B) are made to last, and they have

(C) are made to last, and they do correct

(D) are being made to last, and have

(E) had been made to last, and they have

OA=C

These types of problems consistently trip me up, any suggestions?

This one is very similar to one that is found in OG.

I remember few excerpts of it, "their wines are price to sell and they do."

The reason I put this here is, one can refer to the official explanation provided in OG.

These type of questions are a cakewalk, if you know the basic tenet of ellipsis: You can elide (assume) only those words that have already appeared in the first part of the sentence.

A) their dolls have been made to last, and they are (lasting)
lasting is assumed, but is not present anywhere in the first part of the sentence and so, we cannot assume it.

B) their dolls are made to last, and they have (lasted)
lasted is assumed, but is not present anywhere in the first part of the sentence and so, we cannot assume it.

C) their dolls are made to last, and they do (last)
last is assumed, and is present in the first part of the sentence and so, we can assume it and this makes a logically correct choice.

D) their dolls are being made to last, and have (lasted) - Same issue as B

E) their dolls had been made to last, and they have (lasted) - Same issue as B

One best way to tackle this question is to do a small test:

The Second construction they have been made to last ....and they are (last), is incorrect, because "are last" is an incorrect construction. Apply this test to each choice.

B: are made to last...and they have (last) does not make sense.

C: are made to last...and they do (last); they do last is correct, last can properly be omitted, and C is the correct answer.

D: are being made to last... and have (last) does not make sense.

E: have been made to last... and they have (last) does not make sense.

The correct answer is C
