Hi,

I don't know exactly the source of this question (as it comes from a mix done by my GMAT tutors), but could you tell me if its correct, and if it is, how to solve it? It sounds confusing to me, and if its not correct i will delete it asap.

If a right triangle has a perimeter of 19 and a hypotenuse that is greater than 9, its area can be how many positive integers?

Hey I doubt if the question is correct.

If hypotenuse is greater than 9, then the sum of the other two sides will be close to the hypotenuse and I don't think this will be a right angled-triangle at all.

I also think there is some problem with the question.
If hypotenuse is >9, then the sum of other 2 sides is close to 9.
In a right angled triangle, sum of the 2 sides is much greater than hypotenuse.

If the hypotenuse becomes 10, then with 19 as perimeter, no trianlge can be formed.
because sum of two sides 9 > other side 10
