3 cans a,b & c contain 65 litres, 50 litres and 160 litres of milk respectively. A bucket is used to remove milk from the cans ( only full buckets of milk can be removed and same bucket is used for all cans). After the bucket was used to remove milk, there were 9 litres, 8 litres and 6 litres in cans a,b and c respectively. How many buckets full of milk were removed in all ?

A) 18
B) 21
C) 23
D) 24
E) 27

I feel it has something to do with removing LCM cannot find the correct way to solve thou

Inputs would be appreciated??

I am stumped....
i am not being able to proceed unless i have some more info like capacity of removing bucket (that will be easier..lol)....or may be ....do you mean
one at the time->bucket removes milk from all cans

what is the question by the way...?

My intrepretation,for eg
a=30 litres
b=20 lites
c=25 liters

so lets suppose bucket is of 5 litres is used 2 times to remove the milk ....

the new numbers should be 20,10,15

but it doesnt seems to be the case in the question....
160 litres Can has been reduced to 6 where as at same time 65 liters were removed to 9 only...

if bucket is of equal size and milk is removed equal time from all
i dont know how this will happen...

i again think i am not getting the whole question...

will be interesting to watch....

total milk removed from can A = 65-9 =56 = b * x ( where b is the capacity of the bucket , x - number of buckets of milk removed from can A)
total milk removed from can B = 50-8 =42 = b * y
total milk removed from can C= 160-6 =154 = b* z

total milk removed from all cans = 65+ 50+ 160 - 9-8-6=252 = b* ( x+y+z )

56 = 7 * 2 *4
42= 7 *2 *3
154= 7 * 2* 11

GCD of all the three numbers is 14 . So if b =14 , x=4 y=3 z =11 , so total buckets removed = 18.

i will pick answer choice (A)

but rather i feel question in incomplete

if b = 7, x= 8 y=6 z = 22 , so total buckets =36 ,, not there in there answer choices. only option is 18

so i think b should be given..

Since Total milk removed is 252 and GCD is 14( This means that 14 is the size of the can) 252/14=18 ...Thus milk is removed 18 times
