Total Revenue: Miscalc due to English lang

by kanha81 » Fri Feb 27, 2009 2:25 pm
Hello,

I got this question wrong because I could not understand the standard english language :( I am trying to understand what "All but x" mean?

Last Friday a certain shop sold 3/4 of sweaters in its inventory. Each sweater sold for $20. what was the total revenue last friday from the sale of these sweaters?
i) when she opened the shop, there were 160 sweaters in the inventory
ii) All but 40 sweaters in shop's inventory were sold last friday

Best regards,
Kanha

I am trying to understand what "All but x" mean

This means 40 sweaters were not sold BUT the rest were sold.

Stmt II set up would be

1/4x=40 => x=160

SUFF

Stmt I I am pretty sure u already got it which is also SUFF
