To verb doubt

Hi

I would request someone to please clear this query of mine..

While preparing for SC I read that 'to + verb' cannot be counted as verb.

However while studying subjunctive verbs I came to words( advice,allow) that requires 'to verb'.why are here we counting 'to verb' as verb

'to + verb' cannot be counted as verb
true.
Never can it be counted as a verb.

In command subjunctive construction, it is not a verb therefore.

In comm sub, we use bare infinitive.
Bare infinitives drop to

infinitive--> to join
bare infinitive--> join

I recommended that you join the committee.
I recommended that they join the committee.
I recommended that Joe join the committee.
join is not a verb. It is bare infinitve form of infinitive to join.



However, advice and allow take infinitive only.

I adviced Joe to join the committee.
to join is not a verb. It is infinitive form and not bare infinitive since it is in to verb form.
adviced is verb.

I allowed Joe to join the commitee.
to join is not a verb. It is infinitive form and not bare infinitive since it is in to verb form.
allowed is verb.

to verb can be counted as a noun and therefore can be a subject or an object of a verb.
to verb cannot be an object of a preposition in GMAT.


to verb can be counted as an adjective.
to verb can be counted as an adverb.

However, to verb can never be counted as a verb.
