"to" or "in order to" or "so that .

The ancient Romans piped hot water through the wall and under the floors /so as to warm up the rooms/

a,
b,and so would be able to warm up the room
c,to warm the rooms up
d,so that they could warm up the rooms
e,in order that they would warm up the rooms

what is prefered in gmat land, "to" or "in order to" or " so that ... could.." Pls help me, I am confuded.

I go for D. No reason to use "so as to" since we cna have a simple "to"...or "for". Any other thoughts?

(D) should be it. "warm up" is the correct use.
