Did it take Pei more than 2 hours to walk a distance of 10 miles along a certain trail? (1 mile= 1.6 km)
1) Pei walked this distance at an average rate of less than 6.4 km/h
2) On average, it took Pei more than 9 minutes per km to walk this distance.

Distance = 16 km
Time = 2 hrs.

Average speed should be 8 or greater to complete the trip.

a) Average rate is less than 6.4

So will take him greater than 2hrs.

b) 9 min -- 1 kim
So his speed is 60/9 kmph = 6.66 kmph.
Speed is less than 6.66

So either statement is sufficient and I will go with D

(i) says, Total Time taken = Total dist/Avg Speed ---> 16/6.4 > 2hrs- Sufficient.

(ii) says more than 9 minutes to per Km.

Let us assume 10 minutes ---> 1 Km
160 Minutes <---- 16 Kms

Therefore time taken is 2 Hr-40 Minutes > 2 Hrs. - Sufficient.

Hence, option D.

You may shout at me if i am wrong....

(1) maximum she could have walked is 12.8km, thus it took her certainly longer => sufficient

(2) in 2h=120min the furthest she could have walked is 120/9= 13.33km => sufficient

both statements allow to conlude that it took her longer than 2h to walk 16km

Answer: D
