imo their savings are equal so ratio is 1:1

lete income of A=4x and B=5x
let exp of A=5y and B=6y

saving of A=5y-4x
and B=6y-5x

saving of A=1/4(4x)=x
----->5y-4x=x---->y=x

substituting we get saving for A and B as x
i.e 1:1

I guess you missed something

income -expenditure = saving
4x - 5y =x
so 3x -5y=0
3x=5y

y=3x/5

substititing this value we get B's saving as 7x/5 so A's saving : B's saving =1:7/5

The incomes of A and B are in the ratio 4:5 and their expenditures are in the ratio of 5:6. If A saves 1/4th of his income find the ratio of their savings.

Assume income of A & B are 4x and 5x as the ratios are 4:5.
A saves 1/4 of 4x = x
So his expenditure is 3x
B's expenditure is 6/5 of 3x = 18x/5 his savings is 5x-18x/5 = 7x/5
Ratio of saving is 5: 7
