Promotions, retirements, deaths, and other actions approved by the board of directors at its May meeting will be reported in the July 15 issue of the company
paper.

A Promotions, retirements, deaths, and other actions approved by the board of directors at its May meeting will be reported in the July 15 issue of the company paper.
B Promotions, retirements, and other actions which have been approved at the May meeting of the board of directors along with deaths, with be reported in the July 15 issue of the company paper.
C To be reported in the July 15 issue of the company paper are the promotions, retirements, deaths, and other actions which were approved at the board of directors' May meeting.
D Meeting in May, the promotions, retirements, and other actions approved by the board of directors, including obituaries, will be reported in the July 15 issue of the company paper.
E The July 15 issue of the company paper will report on promotions, retirements, and other actions approved by the board of directors at its May meeting; the paper will also include obituaries.

I would guess between a and c, a looks the best to me but the answer is E

The big difference between (a) and (e) is the voice used.

"Will be reported in" is the passive voice.

"Will report" is the adtive voice.

However, it does seem odd that (e) introduces "obituaries" (which means sort of the same thing as reporting on death, but not exactly). What's the source of this question? Including the source is always a good idea, so we know how likely it is that the question is flawed.

I've never heard of them - the source may be the problem.

Outside of the OG and some of the bigger test prep companies (which have resources to devote to making sure that their questions are very similar to GMAT questions), be very wary of the quality of practice questions.

Anyone can sit down and make up questions, the trick is designing questions that are (1) correct; and (2) GMATesque.

Well, choice a suggests that (among other actions) deaths approved by the directors will also be reported. While directors are quite powerful, I don't think they are there as yet ;)
