a. "New techniques" doesn't agree with "makes," so this is incorrect.
b. The placement of "in greater detail" is awkward here. It should be next to "than ever before" for maximum clarity.
c. This is correct. "New techniques" agrees with "have made it possible," and the present-perfect tense is also appropriate.
d. "In greater detail than it ever was before" should be modifying "study," so it's poorly placed here.
e. "More possible than ever before" and "greater detail" are redundant; you don't need to use two comparisons here.

I don't agree with the OA you've posted here.

I also think there is something wrong in the OA!
Unless it is that "makes" is related to "a process that records radiation..."
But it should be related to New techniques... so it should be MAKE!
For me it is C

Even i was suspicious of the OA that's why i posted it here.
The source was 1000 SC files .
i never have a "TO -DO" list and i end up having a lot of "NOW WAT TO DO ?" lists

I googled this question; people have discussed it on other GMAT forums, and have talked about the OA being C. If your source says it's A, I'd assume that there's a typo in that source.

May be my doubt is a bit crazy.

If the option 'C' is correct the sentence turns out as follows.

New techniques in thermal-scanning photography, a process that records radiation from surface areas, have made it possible to study in greater detail than ever before the effects of calefaction, or warming, of a river.


Isn't it a comma(,) is missing after 'Ever before' ..It seems like 'before the effects of calefaction' , study has been done.

I am missing something...
