There is no agreement at present on what function, if any, certain herbs like gingko bilboa have in showing the determination or improving memory.

A: in slowing the determination or improving
B: in the improvement or slowing of the determination of => INCORRECT
C: in slowed or improved determination of => INCORRECT
D: in the improvement to or the slowing of the determination of =>INCORRECT
E: in slowing the determination of or improving

OA: E

What do you think about A and E?

Hey - Did you mean "deterioration" rather than "determination"?
There is no agreement at present on what function, if any, certain herbs like gingko bilboa have in slowing the deterioration or improving memory.?

A would be incorrect since the sentence would mean like this:
There is no agreement at present on what function, if any, certain herbs like gingko bilboa have in slowing the determination memory or improving memory.
The correct diction would be in slowing the determination of
Hence E is correct.
