There has been NO change to the GMAT! Disregard other posts!

Everyone stop panicing. There has been no change to the format or length of the GMAT.

There are a number of threads going around citing a Times of India article that claims the GMAT has increased by 300 questions. This article is completely wrong and uses actual information incorrectly. There has been no change to the format of the GMAT.

First of all, think about this. An increase of 300 questions? Seriously? Currently there are 37 quant and 41 verbal questions. If we count the two AWA prompts as questions that brings us to a total of 80 questions. Those questions have an alloted time of 3 1/2 hrs to solve. A proportionate increase in time for 300 questions would be equivilant to a 13 hr test. (thats just assuming an increase to 300, not an ADDITIONAL 300) We can obviously see the rediculousness of this.

THERE IS NO CHANGE TO THE FORMAT OF THE TEST!!!

Reading the TOI article closely, we can see that there has been confusion as to the source of the changes. Just replace the references to the GMAT test itself with the Official Guide 12 ed. and all will make sense.

Readers of the TOI need to write to the paper and demand a correction.

Again, relax, there have been no changes to the GMAT.

BTW, there will be changes to the format of the GMAT in 2014 - but only after significant consultation with B-schools and WIDESPREAD publication.

CHILL!!!!!!

Hy.. Thought they are specifying the Question DB. The actual number of questions remains the same 37 + 41. Seems like the DB go refreshed with new set of 300 Questions. Not sure thought. Little tensed since gonna take my test in another 2 months.

The Db did NOT get refreshed! the TOI did a shiteous job in reviewing the OG-12 and picked some random company to provide an analysis based on RETIRED QUESTIONS!!!

That entire article is wrong on soo many levels!!

I love the word: shiteous. :P

Holy crap! It's actually well defined: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shiteous

This is the first time I've read or heard of it.

Seems the Verbal section has changed.

Says the section for Verbal has changed. No wonder people are scoring less in Verbal for past some time now.

Friends, would also appreciate help on my strategy formulation mail (earlier mail).

Its the same article :s

Nothing has changed! i've said it there and i've said it here also

NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!

People scoring less in the Verbal section has nothing to do with this article. If they've been scoring less its probably because they have a genuine problem, not because of the change

I can see how it could have come across ambiguously. At the time of my initial posting, I was only referring to the word "shiteous". Your post was my first exposure to that word and I thought it was quite amusing. But given your question above, I can see that my comment could have been directed at the TOI article as well. Indeed, I had not heard of the TOI article prior to reading this sticky thread. So, while I had originally intended to comment solely on the funky word, my comment does indeed apply to both. :P

I don't think I'll be incorporating "shiteous" into my everyday vernacular, but it seems like it would be a apt word to use from time to time.

One change I can comment on: The breaks. They are now 8 minutes instead of 10.

B-schools rankings have been trying to tell us which MBA programs we should be looking at in the coming admissions season. However, none of them have succeeded in capturing the order of business schools that Indians actually want to study at, despite what these rankings advise.

Hey Read Indian student reviews of MBA courses and programs.
