Because the potential earnings in film and television are so much greater than in theater, many experienced and talented writers have abandoned the theater in order to work in film and television. If the theaters begin to pay compensation commensurate with that paid by the film and television industries, they will be able to lure those talented writers back to theater work. In this manner, the quality of work seen in theaters will improve.

The position taken above presupposes which one of the following?

A) Experience gained in film and television work will contribute to the quality of work seen in theaters.

B) The most significant factor in determining the quality of work at a theater is the level of experience of the writers whose work is produced.

C) Unless the theater community aggressively seeks corporate funding, the difference in compensation between film work and theater work will continue to grow.

D) People who have been working in film and television would be willing to work in theater again.

E) If the disparity in compensation continues to increase, writers will begin to work in the theater in increasing numbers.

Nice question. A and D are the closest contenders.

IMO - D because the argument says that if theaters begin to pay compensation commensurate with that paid by the film and television industries, they will be able to lure those talented writers back to theater work.

B - Too extreme
C - Out of scope
E - Irrelevant

I would like to know the source of the question since its a really nice question.

My answer would be D. If an assumption is challenged then the conclusion should fall apart.

A - Experience gained in film and television work is irrelevant here and does not affect the conclusion at all.

B - Pretty close it almost got me. As it does a pretty good job of connecting the conclusion - quality of work, but the words level of experience of the writers doesn't feel comfortable to me.

C and E are definitely irrelevant.

Whats the OA??

OA - D

I thouhgt the conclusion is that the quality of theatre will improve if those actors come back - therefore i chose D.
