Target question: How much money could be saved by purchasing 10 bagels at the sale price rather than at the usual price?

Statement 1: The usual price for a bagel is $0.50 per bagel.
Since there's no information about the SALE price, there's no way to calculate the amount saved.
Since we cannot answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: The sale price for a bagel is $0.40 per bagel.
Since there's no information about the REGULAR price, there's no way to calculate the amount saved.
Since we cannot answer the target question with certainty, statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT

Statements 1 and 2 combined
At the REGULAR price of $0.50 per bagel, 10 bagels costs $5.00
At the SALE price of $0.40 per bagel, 10 bagels costs $4.00
So, one would save $1 by purchasing 10 bagels at the sale price rather than at the usual price
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, the combined statements are SUFFICIENT

1) usual price: $0,50 ---> $0,50*10= $5 => Usual total price --> No info about the sale price --> Not sufficient

2) sale price: $0,40 ---> $0,40*10= $4 => Usual sale price --> No info about the usual price --> Not sufficient

Combining 1 and 2

(0,50*10)-(0,40*10)=5-4=$1 --> One $1 could be saved --> Sufficient

Hence, C is the correct answer.
