Good question. It's a little bit trickier than that. The schools don;t actually go and make piles of "Indian folks" and then divvy it up by industry... so you have a huge stack of Indian IT apps, and then they say "okay, we'll take only two from here, and three from here!" !!!!!

The process is a bit more organic than that. Meaning that they WILL be looking for diversity in both nationality AND industry, and the more people that are similar to you, the more competitive the places are because the Adcom folks are aware of who they chose and how much, so it might be like "Well, we have this really strong Indian guy who works for Microsoft. What about this Brazilian girl, who works in an NGO... she has not such a great GMAT, but it would be a great mix for...." etc. etc.

So, again, usually there's no "hard and fast rules" and things shift based on circumstance - what they get from who and how many... but in general it's a bit like that...
