The migratory paths of the California

Expert replies
by BTGmoderatorRO » Sun Feb 25, 2018 7:01 am
The migratory paths of the California gray whale and the Pacific humpback now cross at a point roughly two thousand miles northeast of Hawaii, due to human intrusion into the Pacific Ocean along the coast of Oregon. This meeting allows scientists to gather previously unobtainable data about the communication abilities of both of these species, which normally would not come into contact with each other.

Which one of the following statements, if true, would best explain why the situation described above will allow scientists to gather new data?

A. The crossing of the migratory paths of these species has not occurred since records of such data have been kept.
B. The migratory paths followed by the two species are not constant over time.
C. Upon coming into contact with whale of another species, whales alter the pitch of their
“voices” in an attempt to find a common frequency.
D. A whale species need not come into contact with another species to display its ability to communicate.
E. Because it stays in the deep waters of the northern Pacific for ten months out of the year, the Pacific humpback whale has not been extensively studied.

Option A - INCORRECT.
The crossing of the migratory paths of these species has not occurred since records of such data have been kept that is why this rare occurrence at a point in the Pacific Ocean along the coast of Oregon is of great importance to the scientist who have been wanting to gather information about the two species.

Option B - INCORRECT.
This moment of crossing among each others migratory paths followed by the two species are not constant over time that is why scientist are zealous to gather unobtainable data about the communication abilities of both of these species, which normally would not come into contact with each other.

Option C - CORRECT.
This option is best suitable to describe why the scientist will be able to gather long term unobtainable information about this two species. The coming in contact of this two rare whale species is unpredictable, and upon coming into contact with whale of another species, whales alter the pitch of their “voices” in an attempt to find a common frequency. This is one of the unpredictable communication line of whales with different species that the scientist are wanting to know.

Option D - INCORRECT.
A whale species need not come into contact with another species to display its ability to communicate. But the coming together of this two species is uncommon and their ability to communicate effectively is what the scientist are willing to know more about.

Option E - INCORRECT.
Because it stays in the deep waters of the northern Pacific for ten months out of the year, the Pacific humpback whale has not been extensively studied, and now its coming in contact with the California gray whale due to the human intrusion into the Pacific Ocean along the coast of Oregon will make it more interesting to gather more information about it.
