This is a long underline thus an easy approach to weed out wrong answers is look for grammatical errors or internal inconsistency in the answer choices. Remember prephrasing such a long sentence will be tough and time consuming.

Let us look at the choices:

A - "Born in ........ Netherlands" is a modifier should have a noun after it. Choice A it does not look correct, the life of Bernoulli was not born in ..... Netherlands ...... Hence discard.
B - Since we have a solid error with us and the sentence is long, let us split here based on this error. Keep this choice as the modifier is modifying Bernoulli.
C - Discard (same as A)
D - Keep
E - Keep

Looking at the contenders:
B, D and E

B - "also" is redundant after "and". Also the 'who' in the beginning is redundant. Discard
D - "he" is redundant. discard.
E - by elimination should be correct, but let us look at the answer choice as well. No error can be found.
Hence pick E
Hope this helps!

The splits:

1. Born and raised in Groningen, Daniel Bernoulli....is correct because "the life" cannot born and raised. This kills A and C.

2. GMAT prefers conciseness. So, "X, who is a writer..." is preferable to "X, a writer...". This kills B.

3. "Daniel Bernoulli, .............., dedicated"
is good. We do not need to mention the subject again. This kills D.

Answer is E.
