The Hidden Cost of an Unrepeatable GMAT Solution

A Correct Answer Can Hide a Weak Process.

The answer matters. So does the process that produced it.

Correct Does Not Always Mean Mastered.

A correct answer may still come from:

  1. Switching between approaches
  2. Doing unnecessary calculations
  3. Eliminating answers for shaky reasons
  4. Relying on luck or familiarity

The result may be right. The process may not be reliable.

The Real Test Is Repeatability.

After a correct answer, ask:

  1. Do I understand exactly why my approach worked?
  2. Can I solve a different version of this question tomorrow?
  3. Will I trust this process under test day pressure?

One correct answer is a positive sign. Repeatability is evidence of mastery.

Review the Process, Even When the Answer Is Right.

  1. Figure out where your reasoning was unclear or inefficient.
  2. Replace the unstable approach with a dependable one.
  3. Test the method on a new version of the question.

Don’t let a correct answer stop your review too soon.

Mastery Shows Up in What You Can Reproduce.

Recognize the concept.

Choose a sound approach.

Execute the approach accurately under pressure.
