Hi Stacey,
I was going to take one of the GMATPrep tests free from the download that you get for registering with MBA.com. However, I decided not to take either one of those two tests because there are no explanations, just the answers when you take the test(s). What is the purpose of offering those two tests when they don't come with any explanations? I would want to know how they came up with the answers. How would I learn from any mistakes that I made without any explanations? So, I will stick to what Manhattan GMAT has to offer when it comes to taking practice tests.

It's still valuable to take the GMATPrep tests, as they are the most accurate indicator of your actual GMAT performance.

I agree with you that it's lame that no explanations are provided, but in terms of practice--these two tests are the best you can find.

If you need explanations or are confused about any of the problems after you've taken the test, please raise your issues here! We're here to help!

GMATPrep Tests

Hi Eric,
I will wait to take those two tests during the two weeks after I finish the Manhattan GMAT class. I also have all of the nine GMAT paper tests that I downloaded from MBA.com for a fee. They are retired tests that I can use for practice, too. Even though they don't come with explanations, I can pick and choose which part of each test I want to use. There are a lot of questions in the two that I have used, that I have seen in the OG 10th and 11th editions, with explanations, too. The individual parts of each one of the GMAT paper tests have a time given when you are supposed to complete them, so that is one thing that makes using them beneficial from a timing perspective.

I also understand the value of taking the GMATPrep tests because they would be an indicator of what I might score on the test when I take the real GMAT. I want to take those two tests after I complete the Manhattan GMAT class to be sure that I prepared myself well enough for the actual GMAT. The reason why I made a comment that the GMATPrep tests come with no explanations, is because having the explanations makes the learning process that I get from finding the mistakes that I made on the test, work better for me.

Point taken, Greg. I agree that it's a easier learning experience to examine explanations for your mistakes. But try to think of GMATPrep as an opportunity as well: I also think that it's a great learning experience to try figuring out your mistakes by yourself.

In any case, don't forget that you have the support of this community to help you with any issues!

Agree that you should save the GMATPrep tests for after the course is over. That's what I tell my students to do.
