The GMAT and MHA programs

USNEWs and a number of other websites offer information about the average admission requirements for most MBA programs. I have been trying to find the in depth information about MHA programs. Most of the websites just rank the program, but offer little information about admission requirements.
When you visit the programs admission requirements they usually state: 3.0 and above, a GMAT in the top 50 percentile.
I find the GMAT score rather vague.

I plan on calling to request information packets for the schools that I plan on applying too in the next couple of weeks. Would it be wrong for me to ask what the average GMAT scores are from the previous classes? I am concerned that my GPA(~2.7-2.8 undergrad) is going to be an issue with acceptance and am hoping that an above average GMAT score will help shift some of the attention away from the lower GPA.

Many MHA programs prefer the GRE or do not show a preference between accepting GMAT vs. GMAT scores. That is probably why it is difficult to find as much data on GMAT scores for MHA programs as compared to MBA programs. I took the GRE when I applied to UNC's MHA program and then later took the GMAT for b-school. It's fine to inquire with the Admissions office about which is preferred and what the acceptable range of scores is.

Thank you for your advice. A lot of the schools that I have been looking at accept either the GMAT or the GRE. There was only a few accredited programs on my list that only accepted the GRE.
